Tips....

Tips:

"I did a few Christmas Craft fairs last year and I found that simply displaying the Pumpkin Butter did not draw any interest — no one stopped to read the label and see what it was. I started sampling it by putting it into an icing bag and piping it onto Teddy Grahams while wearing gloves. Most small craft fairs don't mind if you sample food if you ask and do it in a safe manner.

So for one, just having something edible at my booth drew people in. Two, they were informed that Watkins had Pumpkin Butter for the season. Three, it cleared up any confusion about pumpkin butter not actually containing any butter. And four, once they tasted it, it was sold! I sold no less than 10 jars of Pumpkin Butter in a few hours at a fair.

I've discovered that you have to tell people or make signs to tell people about products. If they don't know it exists, they sure can't try it!

Which reminds me of one more tip I have... if you have a booth or table at a fair or trade show and you are selling bread/cookie mixes, put a sticker on them with what kind they are. If people just see gold packages sitting there in a pile, they aren't appealing and no one will inquire about them (except the really curious and loyal Watkins customers of course)."
