Behavioral Problems....

Behavioral Problem

Cause:

May have multiple causes, but recent research has shown a reduction in behavioral problems
and sickness in those given nutritional supplements on a regular basis.

What May Help:

Watkins Superfood Multiple (Super Multi1) or
Children’s Chewable (US)

Why:

Contains B-complex and other vitamins and minerals that directly affect
brain and behavior.
Niacin (B-complex vitamin) – may be helpful for symptoms of hyperactivity
and deteriorating school performance.
B-6 (B-complex vitamin) – when B-6 was given to hyperactive children with low blood serotonin levels, hyperactivity was reduced and serotonin returned to normal.
Vitamin C – a cofactor for the synthesis of the neurotransmitter, norepinephrine, imbalances of which are linked to ADD/ADHD.
Magnesium – deficiency is characterized by restlessness and learning difficulties.
Calcium – hyperactivity has often been improved with calcium supplementation.
Zinc – zinc levels have been shown to be lower in ADHD children.

Helpful Hint:

Recent research has shown a reduction in behavior problems and sickness when inmates in prisons and detention centers were given nutritional supplements on a daily basis. In addition, a 2003 study published in the Alternative Medicine Review found that dietary supplements
consisting of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and other essential nutrients were as effective as medication in reducing symptoms of ADD and ADHD.

**Personal note** I know this family personally and have seen for myself the improvement in Derron's life. It has been amazing for sure.

Derron Lemke’s Amazing Story
Derron, the son of Sue Skomsky, was experiencing severe behavioral problems that seriously impacted his performance at school and life at home. He was diagnosed with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and given a prescription for Ritalin, which he took for eight years. In search of an alternative, the family traveled hundreds of miles to consult with a doctor of research specializing in children with ADD.

The specialist placed Derron on a program of dietary modification and intensive vitamin supplementation, believing that proper nutrition could correct the chemical imbalances in the boy’s brain. The program worked well—well enough that Derron was allowed to stop taking the Ritalin. But in order to get all of the nutrients prescribed by the specialist, Derron had to take upwards of ten pills every morning; “not a very pleasant way to start the day,” according to Sue.
When Sue noticed that Watkins Superfood Multiple was similar to the nutrition profile of the vitamins Derron was taking, she faxed the ingredient statements to their specialist, who “was amazed at the formulations,” said Sue, “and gave instant approval. She got totally excited!”

Since Derron started taking Watkins Superfood Multiple, his whole outlook has changed. His grades in school have been excellent, and he has not had a single episode. Although every case is different and needs to be evaluated by a physician, Derron’s physician, Dr. Brian Baxter, agrees that “Derron has done very well. The combination of the diet and the vitamins have allowed him to stop taking Ritalin. It’s certainly a very holistic approach, and an alternative to prescription drugs.”
—Sue Skomsky, New York

—Tawny Dawson, Pennsylvania

“My son has been taking Superfood Multiple (Super Multi) for several months, and he is a different little boy! He is getting much better grades and has been able to focus at school, which was very difficult for him before taking the Watkins vitamins.”
—Kelly Borchardt, Ontario

The following testimonial does not relate directly to behavior, but since recurring infections affect school attendance and therefore, performance, this testimonial has been included.

“My 8-year old daughter used to have ear infections every month. Since using Watkins Children’s Chewables, she no longer has ear infections and has missed no days of school from illness. We use many of Watkins dietary supplements, and it’s the best health insurance investment we’ve ever made.”

Allergies and what may help

Allergies

Cause:

In some individuals, the immune system will overreact to substances that enter the body, causing release of histamine as a defensive mechanism.

What May Help:

Watkins Rezist Plus

Why:

Contains ImmunEnhancer™ and pre- and probiotics that block substances that attempt to invade the body. Blocking these substances helps to reduce allergic reactions.

Helpful Hint:

At the first sign of allergies, take 2 caplets of Rezist Plus in the morning and 2 in the evening until symptoms subside; then take 2 caplets daily.

What May Help:

Watkins Bee Pollen Complex

Why:

Many people take bee pollen in the early spring to help combat allergy symptoms associated with pollen. A growing number of scientists believe that ingesting small amounts of pollen can desensitize an individual to its allergenic compounds.
Note: If allergy- or bee sting-sensitive, consult your physician-allergist before using.

What May Help:

Watkins Superfood Multiple (Super Multi)

Why:

Contains quercetin, a flavonoid that inhibits the release of histamine, helping to combat allergy
symptoms.

Testimonials—

These are personal testimonials. Individual results may vary. Consult your physician before taking any dietary supplements.

“I live in California’s central valley and allergies have always been a problem for me. I started
taking Watkins Rezist Plus regularly and I have made it through the allergy season with no symptoms whatsoever, and have not had to take any allergy medications. I haven’t been sick at all, even though several “bugs” have been going around. Thank you, Watkins, for such a wonderful product.”
—Greg Ellis, California

“For years I’ve had allergy symptoms, such as a runny nose, etc. I started taking Rezist Plus and have had little or no allergy symptoms for over a year.”
—Dean Gengler, Kansas

“My oldest son wanted to take Rezist Plus because he knew it would help fight colds and flu, but the spin-off is that he suffered from what I called “allergy to the morning.” Certain times of the year he would wake up sneezing and coughing and would have a runny nose for a couple of hours every morning. He found that when he was taking Rezist Plus he wasn’t having that reaction when he woke up. It was only when he ran out of Rezist Plus and stopped taking it and all of those symptoms came back, that he realized that it was the Rezist Plus that was helping him to avoid those allergic reactions every morning. It’s a wonderful product and I’ve told lots of people who have allergies to try Rezist Plus. It certainly has made a difference in my son’s life.”
—Lee Baxevanidis, British Columbia

“I have been plagued with allergies all year round for most of my adult life. I have had to use allergy pills every day for the past 10 years and had tried to get off of medication, but with no success...that is, until I started taking Watkins Rezist Plus. I began to reduce my dosage of medication while taking Rezist Plus, and now I am completely off of medication and feeling a lot better while continuing to take Rezist Plus.

“I take Watkins Rezist Plus everyday. When I have a reaction to something in the air or environment, I take another dose of Rezist Plus and within 30 minutes the reaction has subsided. It’s wonderful to see others’ expressions when they see the difference. “Thank you, Watkins, for making my allergies more manageable with Rezist Plus.”

Watkins Black Pepper....

Photobucket

If you stacked all the containers of Black Pepper sold by Watkins since 1895, it would be 35,106 times taller than theEmpire State Building!

Black pepper is, without a doubt, the world’s most popular and important spice. Of the total spice usage nationwide, about a third is devoted to pepper. It is used in virtually every cuisine in the world. Its versatility and popularity have earned it the title "The King of Spices."

Originally introduced in 1895, Watkins Pure Black Pepper was awarded the Grand Prize with Gold Medal for Highest Quality at the Paris International Exposition in 1928. Watkins exclusive process granulates each berry into distinct particles rather than crushing or grinding them into dust. Our process doesn’t create as much friction, which can evaporate the essential oils by generating heat. The result is better flavor retention.

Using Small Promotional Items To Market Your Business

These days we are all looking for creative ways to advertise and market our home businesses. One of the ways you can do this is by offering free small promotional items or giveaways. I like to use these for in-person business contact when I am out in my community locally here in my home town.

What can you use? I use many things depending on the time of the year and if we are running specials on certain products. The items you use should be inexpensive to keep your costs down.

Here are some suggestions:

Pens, Pencils, Markers, 4 Packs of Crayons, Pocket Protectors, Mouse Pads, Business Card Magnets, Window Clings, Stickers, Mini Erasers, Kitchen Gadgets, Childrens Temporary Tatoos, Mini Bubbles, Preprinted Recipe Cards, Key Chains and Key Fobs, Samples of your products and so forth.

I like to turn all of my business cards into magnets. Some of them I use a decorative hole punch and punch a hole in the corner of my business card. I then attach the magnet to the backside being careful to not cover the hole. I then buy decorative ribbon or raffia at my local craft store. I can then tie my magnetic business card onto pens, pencils, recipe cards and things similar to those type of items.

I also buy in bulk zip close plastic bags that measure approx. 3 inches by 6 inches in size. If you buy them in bulk from a wholesale company you can get them pretty inexpensively. I then insert my magnetic business card and include one or some of the following items: mini magnets, mini erasers, stickers, recipe cards, mini post-it note pads, key chains, a business coupon etc.

You can also print out your business info onto a self stick label and apply it to the front side of the zip close bag and then insert a sample of your product that you are trying to market. I punch a corner hole and tie on a recipe card with a recipe that they can use the enclosed sample with. You can also do this if you sell bath soaps, bath salts, mini tea light candles, etc.

Now, What do you do with all of these promotional items that you have prepared? You can use them while you are out in your community doing your errands and promote your business at the same time! You can also use them as give-aways to those who attend your home parties. They are also great to use if you participate in any of the online Mommy Filler Pack Swap Programs!

When you go to the bank, include one with your bank deposit for the bank teller. Better yet, go inside the bank and hand out a few to all of the bank tellers and customers! When you dine out, leave one on the table with your tip for your waitress/waiter. I also give them to all of the store cashiers when I hand them my payment for my purchases! When I go to the postal office to do shipping, I also hand them out to the postal clerks and customers who are waiting in line! If you stay at a hotel/motel, leave one daily for your maid along with her tip! You can hand them out every where you go!

To make myself into a walking billboard for my business, I made a canvas tote bag that I purchased for $3.00 at our local craft store! I decorated the outside with fabric paints with business slogans related to my home business. I then fill it up with my catalogs, order forms, business cards and my promotional giveaway items! I dont leave home without it! If you sell clothing, jewelry, perfume or anything that you can personally wear, make sure you wear it when you go out so that others can see your products!

There are many ways you can promote your business on a daily basis. I hope my ideas have started the creative idea process within you!

Motivation and Sales.....

Hey Direct Sellers!!
I was thinking today about Motivation and Sales. Did you know thatMotivation = Sales?
Here are some thoughts.

It is easy to cry the blues about your lack of sales and blame iton the economy, the weather, your husband, your dog. But let's face reality. If you are not motivated to sell and do whatever it takes to make a sale, then who can you truely blame? Last year it may have taken 2 or 3 new customer calls or inquiries to get a new sale. This year, we are looking at 6, 8, 10 or more. Sure it is easy to lose faith and get discouraged.

Can you honestly say that you are doing everything you can to find new customers? Are you passing out more books than you usually do? Are you making those customer care calls? Are you actively marketing yourself and your business daily both online and offline? Are you being too passive or are you agressively seeking your new and regular clients? Are you actively advertising your business?

More contact may be what is needed. Try upping the amount of touches you make to your customers. If you send a newsletter 2 times a month, try 3 times. If you only leave 1 message for your potential booking to call you back, make it 2 or 3 messages. Or better yet, no messages at all. Talk to her in person. Work on your closing skills so that when you do get in front of your client or customer, you will close the sale.

Follow Up - Follow Up - Follow Up! Motivation is Action and Action = Sales therefore motivation =sales.
Are you honestly motivated and taking enough action to Grow your business? You Can Do It!

Have a great and prosperous week!

Here's Something to Remember

Here's Something to Remember (US)

A study just released suggests that taking vitamins C & E together may help protect brain cells from Alzheimer's disease. This study of 4,740 people conducted at Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and published in the January issue of the Archives of Neurology found that those taking vitamins C & E were 78% less likely to have had a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, and those taking the vitamins were 64% less likely to have developed the disease four years later.

Researchers believe that vitamins C & E, which act as antioxidants, help shield the brain from damaging molecules called free radicals by destroying the free radicals before they can damage brain cells.

Watkins offers a variety of supplements that contain vitamins C, E and other protective antioxidants, including Superfood Multiple, Children's Chewable, Eye Care and Female Formula. For an extra dose of all-natural vitamin E and several other antioxidants, try Watkins E+CoQ10.

Topic of Cancer

Topic of Cancer

In several studies, soy protein has been shown to offer protection from hormone-related cancers, including breast cancer and prostate cancer, but a new study shows that soy may also offer some protection from colon cancer, one of the most deadly forms of cancer.

Researchers found that diets containing soy protein not only helped to protect from colon cancer, but of those subjects who developed the cancer, the tumors were smaller and fewer. Soy protein was also found to lower cholesterol and protect the hearts and kidneys of diabetic patients, whose organs are often damaged by diabetes.

Watkins high-protein SoyNilla beverage mix* contains 13.5 grams of soy protein per serving and is fat-free, cholesterol-free, high in calcium and a good source of fiber—another factor associated with a reduced risk of colon cancer. Just mix with water, milk, soymilk or your favorite juice or beverage for a smooth, creamy, high-protein drink that takes just seconds to make.

Add Watkins Cinnamon, Vanilla, fruit or any of Watkins flavorful extracts for a variety of different tastes.Brenda Koth, MS, RD

Hair Today. Gone Tomorrow

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

A recent study of 13,000 healthy subjects found that lack of iron may lead to hair loss in women. Researchers found that 48% of non-menopausal women suffered from iron deficiency, and women with severe hair loss had much lower iron levels than those who did not suffer from hair loss. Iron deficiency can also lead to fatigue, lethargy, and behavior and cognitive problems.

Researchers reluctantly concluded that hair loss in men is predominantly genetic and there is no relation to iron and hair loss in men. Iron supplements are not recommended for men as iron overload in men has been linked to increased risk of chronic disease. Hormonal imbalance and other mineral deficiencies may also cause temporary but reversible hair loss.

Watkins Female Formula provides iron and other vitamins, minerals and isoflavones for female health and hormonal balance, and Watkins iron-free Male Formula with vitamin E, lycopene and saw palmetto promote male health and performance.

Watkins Skin, Hair & Nails (SHN Formula in Canada) may promote hair growth in those who are vitamin and mineral deficient.

This Will Shake You Up!

This will shake you up!

If you're a salt watcher, here's some good news that you shouldn't just take with a grain of salt! A new study reported at a meeting of the American Heart Association found that people who consumed more calcium, magnesium and other minerals tended to have lower blood pressure than those who ate less of these minerals. In this study, when calcium, magnesium and other minerals were readily consumed, salt had much less impact on raising blood pressure than expected. When intake of these minerals was low, salt intake drove blood pressure up.

It appears that high intake of certain minerals can help to counteract the effects of salt on blood pressure. Calcium, magnesium and other minerals are found in a variety of foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and dairy products.

Watkins Superfood Multiple (Super Multi) contains these minerals and many more to help keep salt from "a-salting" you!

Even if you purchase them at a convenience store...dump it into your Watkins LOGO beverage cup! You want to expose your business to others as much as possible! (this works for ANY company! If your company doesn't have a logo sports bottle or commuter cup, have one made for yourself!)

#52) Update your personal Business Website as much as possible! People who regularly visit our website dont want to see the same thing over & over! Make sure you include detailed ordering & payment information along with contact information on your WELCOME or MAIN page! People dont want to guess at these things! Also offer as many payment acceptance forms as possible! Dont limit yourself to CREDIT CARDS only as alot of people these days are trying to NOT use them and others are afraid to use them on the internet!

#53) Does your church hold spring & holiday bazaars? Dont forget to set up a table display with your business info! Volunteer your time for Church Bake Sales, Holiday Bazaars etc. In exchange, set up a table or booth with your info.

#54) Fundraising! Alot of opportunities here for you to expand and grow your business! Make a list of all the LOCAL groups in your area! Print out flyers about Your Fundraising Opportunity and include contact & business info about yourself! Every month committ yourself to mail out or to contact atleast 5-10 of those group contacts per month!

#55) Do you know of a family in your area that had a fire tragedy recently? A flood or other home tragedy? Donate one of your Outdate Merchandise Items to them! Include your catalog and business card! As they get on their feet again they will want to replace what they lost and can contact you to do that! They are always so grateful for you kindess and this can be a GREAT opportunity for future business from them! At worse, you will feel GREAT for doing something so nice! This will also be a tax write off!

#56) Invest in BLANK postcards or invest in Business Themed Postcards! These are cheaper to mail out than using catalogs! Include your business & Contact info on them and mail them out to everyone advertising your business! This works well with random mailings from phone books as they are much more inexpensive to do and receipients usually tack them to the front of their refrigerator until they need to contact you!

#57) Business SALE aids and Advertising! If you can afford invest in getting some printed refrigerator magnets, snack bag chip clips, post-it note memo pads, pens, pencils etc....get these printed up with your Business Info on them! Pass them out to everyone! Everyone loves something for FREE!

#58) Encourage your party hostesses to strive for more! Offer Additional Incentives to them! Run a MONTHLY or Quarterly Contest for your Party Hostesses ONLY! Tell them that the Hostess who has the highest Party Sales will win an additional prize or Gift Certificate Etc.

#59) Make up inexpensive Gift Baskets! Fill the basket with all kinds of extracts & spice mixes! Add a bow! You can sell these or use them as door prize gifts! Include your business card with each one! Some customers who are looking for gifts will BUY quicker if their gift is already to give to their receipient! If you dont want to do that....offer gift wrapping service to your customers for an additional fee to cover your wrapping & bow expenses! These days busy people want things in a hurry and already completed!

#60)If you really want to go out on a limb for your Customers who live locally to you that you are offering gift wrapping services too, you could also add in local delivery for a fee or if they are out of the area, you could offer to package & ship the gift wrapped package for them....again for a fee!

#61) Business Gift Giving Program: Contact all the businesses in your area and provide them with printed info about the Business Gift Giving Program along with your contact info! I suggest you make a list of contacts and committ yourself to 5-10 a month that way you will not get over-burdened with time & money expenses if you make a reasonable goal for yourself to keep! A lot of Businesses look for unique affordable gifts they can give to their employees especially around the Holidays!

#62) If time is a problem for you, get yourself organized! When watching TV or a movie, stamp the backs of your catalogs, make up your hostess party info packages, stuff your envelopes for Fundraising and Business Gift Contacts etc! You can do this during the commercials instead of just sitting there & bitting your nails LOL Enlist the help of your kids! Children love to feel that they have a "job" and offering them a few bucks or another incentive for helping you with your business!

#63) Contact NEW Graduates from High School or College in your area or hold an open house party just for them! Alot of graduates are moving into their own first apartment/home or going away for college! They younger they are when they start buying your products....the better! They could end of being a collector or a long term lifelong customer & faithful user of your particular brand!

#64) Get Business Themed Banking Checks! Your bank checks pass thru tons of hands that could become potential customers or party hosts! If possible get your email address or website URL preprinted onto them! I also suggest using preprinted postal address labels too! (try to get checks that have pictures of some of the products you sell on them or at the very least make sure some where on the check it says: Watkins Rep.

#65) Get yourself a self inking or rubber stamp made up with your Website URL and contact info on it! Stamp everything with it! Not only does this save you time but you will be more "apt" to stamp up everything and anything if it ONLY takes a second to do it!!!Most importantly is to be patient! If you work hard in promoting your business your Business will Flourish!

What is Success?

What is Success?

It's doing your work the best you can,
And being just to your fellow man;
It's making money, but holding friends,
And staying true to your aims and ends;

It's figuring how and learning why,
And looking forward and thinking high,
And dreaming a little and doing much;
It's keeping always in closest touch

With what is finest in work and deed;
It's being thorough, yet making speed,
It's daring blithely the field of chance
While making labor a brave romance.

It's going onward despite defeat,
It's being lean and it's playing fair;
It's laughing lightly at Dame Despair;
It's looking up to the stars above,
And thinking deeply of life and love;

It's struggling on with the will to win
But taking loss with a cheerful grin;
It's sharing sorrow, and work and mirth
And making better this good old earth;

It's serving, striving, through strain and stress
It's doing your noblest---
That's success!-

Put Some Fire in Your Desire

Put Some Fire in Your DesireBy: Chris Widener

One of the keys to success is staying motivated because itis being motivated that keeps us going out the door everyday to change the world and reach our destiny! It is ourdesire for a better life, for change in ourselves andothers, and for personal growth and fulfillment that moves our mountains! Desire!
Desire sure is a word with much more richness to it than the word "want" though they are essentially the same. "Want,"though, sounds like you could take it or leave it. "Desire"says, "I have to have it!" Desire, is "want" with a fire under it!
Unfortunately, we tend to ebb and flow from want to desire, even with the same goal! One day we may be passionate about building our business or growing our relationships and then, the next day, we find ourselves simply in the "want" campagain.
The key to keeping on is to re-light the fire under want so it roars into a raging fire of desire! Then, and only then, will we see the passion needed to be tenacious pursuers of our dreams!

Keeping the fire lit is what will see you through the mountains and valleys of life and the journey you are on to your success! So what do we do? We light the fire! Here are a few thoughts to help you build the fire of your desire!

The wood:
Keep a clear mental picture of the goal. This is imperative. The picture of the goal is like the wood in a fire. It is the raw material. Know what your goal is and what it looks like.

The fuel:
Keep a list, if simply just a mental one, of all of the benefits of pursuing and reaching your goal. Make them as"sense" oriented as possible. "See" the benefits. "Hear"them. "Touch" them. This is like the fuel that we add to a fire to get it going. Now all we need is a match.

The match:
Keep yourself active! This is the match: Action! Even when you don't feel like it, get yourself to act and soon you will see the fire burning because you have again ignited the dream! The more desire you have the more the fire burns. Eventually the fire will begin to die out. Here is where you throw the wood on again, pour on some fuel, and if need be, strike another match.

I would encourage you to not let the fire go out though, because it is easier to continually throw wood and fuel on an already burning fire than it is to start one up again!

How to Have a Catalog Party

By www.consultantmoms.com

Many direct sales consultants are reluctant to doing catalog parties. Catalog parties are sometimes more convenient to our hostesses, therefore you should never discourage a catalog party! Often hostesses will totally just cancel all together if she feels she is being pressured into doing something she does not want to. If a hostess wants to try a catalog party, allow her to! If the party turns out successful, she is more likely to agree to an in home show in the future!

Catalog parties CAN be very successful if the hostess is coached properly! Here are some ideas for coaching your hostesses through a catalog party.

1- Have your hostess pick out the things she wants for free. Then calculate it up to figure out how much she needs to sell to get what she wants for free. This gives the hostess a goal to work towards.

2- Make sure the hostess has a list to add all of her friends and family on. This way if they all are wrote down, she will not forget to ask anyone!

3- Give your hostess a start date and an end date. This way you will not be faced with a month long catalog show. If she has a date she must close by, she will work to make sure she can all orders within her time frame.

4- Remind your hostesses to ask everyone if they would be interested in hosting their own party and she can still qualify for more rewards for getting bookings, either in home or catalog parties.

5-Call the hostess at least 2 time though out the set time frame to see if she needs any order forms or more catalogs. Doing this will also give you a chance to "check in" and see how things are going so far. Ask how she is doing so far and if there is anything you can do to help her. You may be able to encourage her at this point if things are not going as well as planned.

6- If the catalog party is local instead of having the hostess deliver the products, you make all deliveries, this way you have a chance to meet each customer and can introduce yourself to them. This way you can possibly gain future shows or recruits, by dealing directly with the customers.

Resist the Urge to Jump

Resist the Urge to Jump (Kara Kelso)

You did your homework on a ton of companies. You fell in love with the products of the company you picked. But sales aren't what you expected them to be, and you are barely making ends meet. Is it time to move on to another company?
The answer is a resounding "NO"!

There are certain things you need to know about all companies. For one, not everyone is going to be as excited about the products as you are. Second, the sales aren't always going to come easy even if the customers seem eager to buy. Most of us have learned this the hard way, but understand it's not always the products or the company that is at fault here.

Before you jump ship and throw away all the hard work you'll put into a particular business, you need to ask yourself several questions.

1. Have I given it enough time?
With any business it takes a minimum of 2 years to build a solid customer base. If you've only been working at this for a few months, you haven't given it near enough time.

2. Have I been active?
If you only book a few parties a year and do a few paid ads online, that's not all that active. Being active in a business means you spend every day you possibly can working your business in some way. Networking on business groups, while important, doesn't always count. It's an important part of your business, but by no means should be the ONLY task you do.

3. Am I promoting the products properly?
Sometimes taking a fresh look at our marketing tactics can do a world of good. Make a list of all the ways you have promoted your products and see what's useful and what's not. Selling candles in a business magazine isn't promoting properly (unless you are selling the business opp, but even then this should be done sparingly - remember your best reps are going to be your best customers first!).

4. Can the product be reordered?
If you are selling items that can only be purchased once, you may have a harder time building a solid customer base. This is simply because even a happy customer may not need to buy anything else you are offering. Products you can reorder, though, are much easier to sell again and again to the same person.

5. Am I doing all I can to sell?
This goes back to the active question, but is a little different. Not only do you need to be doing some task every day, you also need to be doing a variety of marketing. This would include online and offline marketing, as well as different forms of promotion with each. Online you don't want to just throw up a few ads and call it good - look into other options for advertising like building your own website, starting a blog, and writing articles.

Now there does come a time when you may start thinking it's time to call it quits. However, be very careful with this decision because if you switch companies you'll be starting completely from scratch. Also try to avoid joining multiple companies to "make additional money" - the fewer companies you have to focus on, the more successful you will be.

The Power of Deternination

The Power of Determination By: Jack Canfield

I often talk about the importance of taking action toward your goals, dreams and desires. But one of the most important qualities you will need to develop in order to continue taking action is persistence.
You must be persistent in your disciplines and habits; perseverant in the face of adversity, hardship and challenge; and determined to achieve your dreams, no matter what. There will be many times when you will want to quit, give up, and go back to doing something else, but the one quality that will guarantee your success is the willingness to stick with it, to see it through to the end -- to refuse to settle for anything less than your dream.
The longer you hang in there, the greater the chance that something will happen in your favor. No matter how hard it seems, the longer you persist, the more likely your success will be.

Adversity and Discouragement Is Inevitable

No matter how well you plan and how well you execute your plan, you are bound to meet with disappointments, adversity and failure along the way to your ultimate triumph. Sometimes, you'll encounter what seem like overwhelming odds. And sometimes, the Universe will test your commitment to the goal you're pursuing. The going may be hard, and may require you to refuse to give up while you learn new lessons, develop new parts of yourself, and make difficult decisions.
And, adversity is what gives you the opportunity to develop your inner resources of character and courage. Adversity is a great teacher. It will test you and make you stronger. But you have to hang in there and not give up!

More than 4000 years ago in China, Confucius wrote: "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall.

"How to Deal with Obstacles"
Whenever you confront an obstacle or run into a roadblock, you need to stop and brainstorm three ways to get around it, over it, or through it. For every obstacle, come up with three different strategies for handling the potential obstacle. There are any number of ways that will work, but you will only find them if you spend time looking for them. Always be solution-oriented in your thinking. Persevere until you find a way that works.

You Need to Quit..... NOW!

YOU NEED TO QUIT.....NOW!
Written by Debbi Bressler

With increased financial pressure being put on many people, I've seen a exponential increase in jumping frog disease. The reason in many cases is because they need money...FAST! So fast, that they jump from one opportunity or business model every few weeks, waiting for the "hot" one to hit and put immediate money in their pockets.

While many people will be glad to tell them what they want to hear ("Join me and All Your Dreams Will Come True!), I want to know what they have done, are doing, and hope to achieve...and the budget and time frame they are working within. And, many times, I discourage them. I don't want their money because.. In most cases, a solution is already in front of them.

The business opportunity or internet marketing method or offline methodologies are already part of their portfolio. But they haven't implemented any of them properly because they haven't quit.

Please...before you spend more time or money starting anything new, I urge you to QUIT!

1. QUIT reading promotional emails.
You know the kind I mean. Everyday they are promoting some other Get Rich Quick scheme or have the latest secret to affiliate marketing profits. Make profits even faster with this handy, dandy software program. I have moved all promotional-based emails (including anything I am forced to complete at a squeeze page) to a Gmail account ONLY for subscriptions. No "real" mail is ever sent there. When I must concentrate and not get waylayed into the Land of Oz, I simply QUIT reading anything in this account. (Note: This is also true of forums that allow companies or products to be promoted, i.e. the Company section of this forum. Stay in theareas where tips and advice are shared and QUIT the promotional areas.)

2. QUIT buying into the hype.
I just cruised a popular forum that has a "for sale" section by it's members. Here are some titles currently available:
$0 to $1,000 per month in 40 days...guaranteed!
How I make > $140,000/Yr in 30-60 Minutes/DayOnly $5.95!
$80K monthly
Want to Make $100-500 a day?
How I Made $580K Using Public Domain Works!
All New...How to Make Over $100,000 Per Month

Now, seriously, the person supposedly making 580K a year is going to sell as many reports as possible (they keep renewing this sale) for only $47. If YOU held the secret to $580,000.00 per year, would you open it up to all these competitors for a $47 ebook sale? QUIT BEING STUPID.

3. QUIT GETTING DISTRACTED BY THE SHINY PENNIES
There's a guy in my mastermind group who has spent literally tens of thousands of dollars (his "training budget is $10K a month), attending seminars and buying all the latest hot product launches. Every week he reports his latest projects...and each week they are something in a totally different direction than the previous week. This guy never achieves anything because he always goes off course chasing the shiny new pennies.

4. QUIT IGNORING WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE.
In the time you are spending searching and starting new businesses every week, you could be selecting one of the models you already have and work with it long enough to honestly gauge results. This does NOT happen in 7-14 days!
Decide what you want in a business. Then look at all those opportunities you've joined, or products you've bought, and pick the best one which might meet the needs you've outlined. Do whatever it takes to fully implement what's required ... and give it time to grow. The money you are wasting joining the Opportunity of the Week or Product Launch of the Day could be better spent invested in one of the businesses you already have in front of you.

5. QUIT EXPECTING A BUSINESS TO SOLVE YOUR FINANCIAL PROBLEMS IN TWO WEEKS
You want to make $5,000 a month and you are willing to quit because it hasn't happened after a few weeks. That makes as much sense as the person who expects to lose the 100 pounds they've gained from YEARS of bad eating decisions! Yes, some people can get in profit very quickly (there have been such stories reported on this very forum). But NOT achieving your financial dream in a few weeks does NOT mean it doesn't work.

6. QUIT COMPARING YOURSELF WITH OTHERS.
I've seen more people quit because they weren't as successful as other people and they feel they are failures. Only one little problem....I'd venture to guess that some of those people are not being honest! After all, it's pretty hard to get you to fork over $100 or $1000 (so you can learn their secrets and become just as successful and they are), if, in reality, their home has just been foreclosed or they are in bankruptcy. (Seriously...I know marketers in this situation.) For all the people who are paraded onstage, there are many more people with thriving, successful businesses that you would be thrilled to emulate. Avis made a load of money being #2; the view is still pretty nice up there!

7. QUIT SITTING ON YOUR BUTT.
The number one reason most people aren't successful is they don't take enough action performing the right activities for enough time. Get an index card right this moment and write: "Can this activity put money in my pocket?" Take it to your computer monitor. Run every business "activity" against this. Setting up folders on your computer FAILS. Talking to prospects or driving traffic to your squeeze page PASSES.------------
Having reread #7, I have to honestly answer "NO" to my question. So, with that, I will get back to work!

Hope I haven't bored you with my thoughts! But there are more and more people who I really care about...who are struggling with this issue.

Ethics, Morality and Cut Throat Sales

Ethics, Morality and Cut Throat Sales by Laurie Ayers

Ethics and morality used to be used interchangeable in business. I do not believe this can or should be the current practice. Many businesses, including the DSA – Direct Sales Association have defined a Code of Ethics. Those business ethics basically say be forthcoming and not deceptive, don’t use false claims, etc.; pretty cut and dry stuff.

Yet when it comes to morality in business, some would argue that definition to be a bit subjective. But is it? Shouldn’t we all have a general sense of right and wrong? Or is it a matter of what’s right to one independent sales consultant would be highly taboo to another? If it’s not exactly illegal by company policies and procedures, does that mean anything goes in independent sales?

It’s a dog eat dog world. Desperate times call for desperate measures. It’s a cut-throat economy out there. True or False?
First let’s take a look at what is meant by "cut-throat sales".
According to one responder on Yahoo Answers: "If you work in a "cut throat sales" environment, it means that the reps are all either starving, lazy or greedy. They will "cut your throat" by stealing your customers/prospects the minute you turn your back." The same responder continued, "If you have the stomach for it, you can make great money. If you have morals and ethics, you may get ulcers and stress - I did."

Headlines of a Nov. 26, 2008 Newspaper read: "The cut-throat Christmas: Stores in price-slash frenzy as battle for shoppers gets desperate.
Most of us would agree that Cut Throat Sales is much more than being keen and aggressive – it’s more about being desperate. But does it work?

Some Direct Sales companies have a policy about territories. It’s my understanding that Mary Kay Cosmetic independent consultants are required to ask potential customers if they already have a Mary Kay consultant. If so, they must back off. Other companies have a clause that reads something like: No Territory Restrictions - There are no exclusive territories granted to anyone.
Take this scenario for example: A Direct Sales company consultant has a display set up in a local business to generate leads. A consultant from the same company also happens to patronize this business; sees the display; and still tries to infiltrate the business and make those customers and employees her own customers.

Assuming there are no territory restrictions, is this practice acceptable or no?
What if the second consultant is from the same company but is on a different team?
Is that free enterprise or is that an immoral business practice?
Does your response change at all if both consultants are on the same team?

How do you feel about this second example:
A consultant attends an event and gives her direct sales products as a gift. Other participants admire the item; yet the consultant who gave the gift merely responds, "I’m glad you like it." Then within the confines of this same conversation, another participant, who also happens to be a consultant with the same company, starts her own sales pitch in the middle of the event. Morally wrong or all is fair in business?
Does it matter if both of these consultants are on the same team?

Here’s my feeling on both of these situations – take what you like and discard the rest:
They’re both wrong, no matter if the consultants are on the same team or not, but it makes it even more immoral if they happen to be on the same team.
In the first situation, if the second consultant didn’t think to request a display first, then she should move on to another business. There are plenty of leads to go around without needing to be cut throat about it.
In the second scenario, I’m shocked and disgusted that someone would even under cut the first consultant who quietly gave the item as a gift. The second consultant did nothing but create awkwardness and cause herself to look like a real buffoon. The second consultant will self-destruct with that kind of desperate cut throat sales tactics. It does not work and it’s just plain wrong.

Here’s the rub – anyone who doesn’t see these two above examples as immorality in business probably partakes in those kinds of activities. He or she likely sees cut throat sales as the only way to be successful. My wager is that if there are temporary sales successes in this type of behavior, it’s short lived and the perpetrators will continually need to move on from company to company once bridges are burned and the self-implosion is finalized.

To those folks:
I wish you well; you’re going to need it.

To those direct sales independent consultants who see something fundamentally wrong with this type of activity, try not to let the choices of others consume you and steal you of your joy. Keep running your business with authenticity and integrity – you’ll soar among eagles!

Referrals Bring Results

Do you ask every customer and every sales and business opportunity prospect for referrals?
The successful Associate multiplies his or her contacts by building a referral network. Statistics
indicate that you will have success with only 1 out of 10 people you approach cold, but 7 out of
10 referrals will respond positively. Clearly, referrals could mean a definite increase in your sales
and sponsoring.

While asking for referrals is one of the easiest things to do, many Associates fail to ask their
current prospects for the names of others. Whenever you speak with prospects who are not
interested in becoming a Watkins Associate thank them for their time and ask if they know of
anyone who might be interested in the business opportunity or Watkins quality products. Many
of your new Associates and customers can come through referrals, but not until you start asking
for them.

The best time to start building your network of referrals is now. Go through your "Who Do You
Know?" list* and return to the prospects who said no. Let them know about the new and exciting
things happening at Watkins. If the prospect is still not interested in Watkins business
opportunity, simply ask, "Do you know of anyone who might be interested?"

Another way to generate referrals is to go through your existing customer list and let them know
all about the current specials and new products from Watkins. Use this opportunity to tell them
that you are looking for people who want to earn extra money and are asking your customers for
names. If you want to be specific you can ask each customer for 5 or 10 names.

As a reminder to ask everyone you come in contact for referrals, put up a sign, note, or symbol
where you will see it everyday. Referrals could be a positive change for your business.

Tips for Planning Your Open House

· Set a date and time for guests to come and go at their convenience. Perhaps plan a
special “preview” for those special Hosts, such as a private Tasting Party.

· Create your invitation list – past Hosts, new Customers, repeat Customers, and
Customers who have made large purchases, and family and friends. Invite your
neighbors as well.

“Hi Jane, it’s Dawn from next door. I just wanted to invite you to my Open House on
Saturday from 12 – 3 pm. We have some great new products to introduce (JR
Homecare Line/Fall Gift Line/New Product Introductions) . Feel free to bring a

a Mystery Host for your Open House.

· Provide simple refreshments using our teas, dips and spices.

· Set the mood with music and wonderful cooking smells.

What Does a Successful Coach Do?

· Coaches with clarity – identifies needs, wants, goals, and specific action plans that will help
individuals achieve their desired results.

· Asks open-ended questions to encourage opinions and draw out specific suggestions; builds
on the Associate’s ideas when possible.

Here are some examples of open-ended questions:

o What do you really want to accomplish?
o What will that mean to you?
o What’s standing in the way?
o What is an action step you can take that will move you towards the
thing(s) you want to accomplish?
o Are you willing to take that action step?
o When will you do it?
o How will I know you’ve done it?

· Inspires Associates to stay focused and provide a constant source of inspiration – pays
attention to their efforts and encourages team participation, incentives, and group goals to
achieve team synergy.

· Focuses on the future and keeps others thinking about what’s next.

· Demonstrates a high level of interest in the people he or she coaches and believes in their
abilities and goals.

· Creates an atmosphere of achievement, enthusiasm, and camaraderie – doesn’t lose sight of
goals and doesn’t give up on his or her Associates.

“You get the best out of others when you give the best of yourself

Principle-Centered Coaching

The First Three Skills of Principle-Centered Coaching™ - DSWA

Heart Centered Listening –
is listening from your heart with a laser focus and intent to hear
and understand what is being said and felt by the speaker. Practice these skills with everyone
and notice when you are in your own thoughts and shift back to listening with your heart.

ICU Acknowledgement –
as in I see who you are, is to look beyond the actions of a person to
“who” they had to be to accomplish what they did and to acknowledge the person for their
strengths and qualities. Acknowledge by naming the person’s qualities and strengths (not
complimenting them on what they do). Acknowledge each family member and each team
member you speak with this week.

“You’re the Expert” Questions –
are open-ended questions (that cannot be answered by yes or
no) that lead to more clarity, insights, possibilities and commitments. Practice these questions by
writing down five questions you want to use during your interactions with your team. Notice the
impact on others.

“You’re the Expert” Questions
Planning and Setting Goals

1. What do you want?
2. What is your intention?
3. What are the possibilities?
4. What outcomes do you want?
5. What is the vision for your business?
6. What are your goals for the month?
7. If you could not fail, what would you do?
8. What is your dream?
9. What motivates you to get up in the morning?
10. What brings you joy?

Solidifying Their Commitment To Take Action

1. What is the first step?
2. What do you need to have in place to accomplish this?
3. How will you make that happen?
4. What could be the challenge in taking action?
5. What information do you need to have?
6. In the bigger view, how important is this?
7. What action would make this complete?
8. What will you achieve by taking that action?
9. What is your commitment on a scale of 1 – 10?
10. If you were looking back 6 months from now, what would you like to have
accomplished?

Creating Accountability

1. What are you going to do?
2. When are you going to do it?
3. What support do you need?
4. What does your success depend on?
5. How will I know you’ve done it?
6. What accountability would you like to put in place?
7. What can make it fun/exciting?
8. What are your qualities that will contribute to the outcome you want?

Prompting Feedback and Insight

1. What worked?
2. What would you do differently?
3. What was the challenging part?
4. What new insights did you discover?
5. What did you learn from this experience?
6. How can you apply the learning?
7. What would make the biggest difference?
8. What are some new options?

http://www.watkinsonline.com/ddemell

6 Steps to Developing People

1. Have a relationship
Know your Associates and let them get to know you. The relationship must be built
on mutual trust and respect.

2. Identify needs and plant seeds of greatness.
Learn what the Associates’ needs are and connect the benefits of advancing with
those needs. Identify those with the need to grow and advance.

3. Discover their dreams and goals.
Believe in their dreams and their ability to achieve them.

4. Turn their dreams into a purpose.
Tap the emotions of their dreams. Discover their “real” why. What difference will
their accomplishments make? How will it make them feel? How will those they care
about feel about their accomplishments? How can they make a difference and
contribute once they reach their goals?

5. Create a vision.
Keep the vision alive for them. Talk about their achievement as fact. Your belief in
them and enthusiasm is contagious.

6. Coach
Plan with them so you both clearly understand where they are going, how they are
going to get there and when they will arrive.
Teach to be sure they know exactly what to do and how to do it. You can’t coach
people to do what they don’t know.
Confront in a non-threatening way when they don’t perform according to plan. Find
out what you can do to re-direct/re-focus them.

Acknowledge achievements to keep them aware of their milestones. Notes, cards,
telephone calls and public praise will support their belief in themselves. It will
confirm you are watching them and are committed to the plan.

trying to remove it. Before I went to bed I put Watkins Petro-Carbo Salve on the sliver and in
the morning the sliver came right out.”

“I’ve endured severe psoriasis since the late 80’s. Side effects from prescriptions outweighed any relief, and standard treatment just made it more comfortable to live with, but did not get rid of it. The treatments also reduced quality of life, as it caused weight gain and dulls sensation. I
was totally skeptical when my Watkins Associate told me to try Petro-Carbo Salve. I used it on
one bad area, just to test it, and I was amazed at how fast my skin returned to normal. Areas that had plagued me for years began clearing in days. The dark blotches left from previously healed areas began fading within 10 days. At the end of my second week, I stopped using my prescription, and now I use only Watkins Petro-Carbo Salve. Thanks, Watkins. I’ll be a customer for life!”
—David Koyle, Ontario

“I really love your Petro-Carbo Salve. I have had a condition called hand dermatitis for about six
years and I went to three dermatologists who told me I would just have to live with it; that there was no cure. I was desperate to find something that worked. Then one day I ran into a Watkins Associate and she gave me a sample of the Petro-Carbo Salve. I used it for one full week and after that week I no longer needed to wear gloves. After using it for six months, I’m happy to say that I no longer have to take an oral steroid or have to pay for the steroid medicine for my hands. Your product has been amazing for me in this struggle.”

Aloe Vera Juice

Photobucket

Article No. 01461 (3.78 L/1 U.S. gallon)
(over one month’s supply)

Known mainly for its beneficial effects on burns and other external afflictions, aloe vera has a
tonic effect on the digestive system as well.* Aloe enhances protein digestion and assimilation and decreases elimination time while helping to regulate bacterial growth.* It has been recommended for indigestion, constipation, bowel toxicity and other internal problems.* Proponents have claimed that it helps heal internal tissues, and it has beenused in folk medicine to treat ailments of the stomach, colon, and kidneys.* The full benefits of its synergistic blend of around 200 biologicallyactive compounds are not yet known. Watkins has captured the beneficial properties of this popular “medicine plant” in a liquid form.

Watkins Aloe Vera Juice is 99.7% pure, coldprocessed and stabilized; enjoy it alone or with
fruit juice. The recommended use is two to six ounces (60–180 mL) of juice per day.

• Naturally field grown:

Hydroponically-grown aloe, although cheaper, has not been proven equal to field-grown aloe in providing benefits.

• Hand filleted:

Insures that only pure gel is used, not the bitter protective layer called aloin.

• Cold processed:

Retains the beneficial properties of aloe by preserving natural enzyme activity.

• Stabilized with food-grade preservatives:

Aloe does not need to be heated (pasteurized), a process which destroys its enzymes. Enjoy Aloe Vera on the outside!

Testimonial—
Individual results may vary.
“I’ve had joint pain for many years. Some days I could hardly use my hand, it was so painful.
About 3 days after trying Watkins Aloe Vera Juice, I noticed a difference in my pain, but never thought much about it until I really realized it was getting better. I went off the Aloe
Vera Juice for a week, and within days my fingers were starting to swell again. Needless to say it is my daily routine.“

Identifying Needs: Sponsoring Made Easy

One way to think about new sponsoring is to realize that the Watkins Business Opportunity can reinforce important values or meet important needs in the lives of your prospects. But you can't explain how Watkins can benefit an individual until you identify his or her needs.

Listening
The best way to identify someone's needs is by listening. The following reminders can help you become a more effective listener:

· Let your prospect complete his or her statements; control your impulse to answer immediately.

· Give yourself permission not to be a "know it all." Listen closely for the prospect's views; listen with the intent to understand.

· Make sure you understand what your prospect is telling you. To help clarify, rephrase his or her statement:
"I understand you to say [then rephrase the prospect's statement]." You can also say, "Can you tell me more about that?" or, "Let me see if I really understand your concerns about my business opportunity."

· Listen with your eyes; maintain eye contact.

· Do not be easily offended. Don't let your opinions interfere with your ability to listen; you are trying to understand not to judge.

· Remember that your desire is to make a positive difference in your prospect's life; therefore, you must listen for what is important or missing in his or her life.

An additional benefit to active listening is that your prospects will tend to be more willing to work with you if they feel they have been genuinely heard.

Speaking
"Seeking to understand requires consideration; seeking to be understood takes Courage."
—Stephen R. Covey

Remember, your objective is to identify needs and show the prospect how he or she can meet those needs through Watkins.

The following reminders will help you keep this objective in mind when speaking to prospects:

· Avoid evaluating a prospect's values or needs

· Avoid giving advice

· Wait until your prospect has finished a thought or idea to speak; don't interrupt

· Remain enthusiastic, but stay calm and open-minded; avoid becoming confrontational

· Present yourself as someone your prospect would like to have as a business partner

Identifying people's needs and concerns by listening with a clear desire to understand will help your prospects to see for themselves that the Watkins Business Opportunity and/or Watkins Quality Products are something they want and need.

Identifying Needs is Key

A key element in your success with sponsoring is your ability to listen. This will allow you to identify anyone's needs as long as you take the time to establish a relationship, ask questions and identify the needs of your prospect so that you may show them how Watkins, as a business opportunity, can fulfill that need.

Identifying the need is key to their success and key to developing a strategy to support them.

According to the DSA, individuals become direct selling distributors for one of seven reasons.

1. Discount buyers:
These distributors are searching for product discounts and looking for bargains. Their
continued involvement is determined by interest in the products or services being sold.

2. Specific goal seekers:
These individuals get involved with direct selling to make extra money for a specific purpose, such as Christmas.

3. Upwardly mobile:
These distributors truly desire incremental income to improve quality of life and may become long-term distributors.

4. Social networkers:
Individuals who desire social interaction and truly enjoy the networking of network marketing. Some may feel isolated in their current situation. Both the person-to-person and party plan
models meet the social interaction desires of these distributors.

5. Goal achievers:
These individuals find working towards goals and being recognized for achieving goals very important. Direct selling offers considerable recognition, both at distributor events and conventions, as well as through titles.

6. Product advocates:
An individual who gets involved with direct selling due to a true love and respect of the product is a product advocate. These distributors' passion for the products often provides them with
strong selling tools.

7. Aspiring entrepreneurs:
Career people are the best classification for these distributors. These are the ideal candidates in that they have a long-term interest in the business and are likely to be productive.
Take time to listen to everyone you know and meet, and once you've identified a need, offer them the chance to learn more about the Watkins Opportunity. Most of us meet people every day whose livelihood can be enhanced with a mere $300 or more each month. Don't decide for prospects. Offer them the chance to learn more about the Watkins opportunity and allow them to choose their own destiny.

Spread the Joy!

Prospecting as a Sifting Process

Most Watkins Associates understand the importance of prospecting for the continued growth of
their businesses; however, many do not prospect as often as necessary because of the fear of
rejection.

One realization that can help Associates to overcome that “fear of rejection” is the understanding
that when someone says, “no thank you” to the Watkins product or opportunity, he/she is not
rejecting the Associate personally.

In our industry, a decline to participate in the opportunity most often means, “the timing isn’t
right for me now.” Occasionally, it means, “I don’t like direct selling.” But it never means, “I
don’t like you.” Instead, think of prospecting in this industry as a sifting process. You have to go
through many “no’s” to find a few “yes’s.”

The fear of rejection is magnified many times when we do not talk to enough people. If we only
talk to ten people in a week, the act of rejection by those few becomes bigger. If we contact three
to five people per day, rejection is no problem because a few will always get involved.

Remember this law of balance:
increase the number of approaches and decrease the impact of rejection.

To increase your prospecting efforts and overcome that fear of rejection, consider taking the
following actions:

1. Know that prospecting is a sifting process; each “no” brings you closer to someone who
will say “yes”!

2. Write down the number of approaches you are currently making per week. Set a goal to
double that number to decrease the impact of rejection.

And remember! It is up to you to GO OUT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!

That "R" Word

I can sell, but don’t talk to me about that "R" word…

Does this sound like you? I’m a strong seller; selling is not a big deal; our products are so awesome that once you get them in front of people they really do sell themselves because they are so wonderful. Yes, I mention the business opportunity at the beginning and the end of my presentation. Yes, I even give everyone at my parties some information on the business. I’m sure if they are interested, they will ask me about the business; after all, I don’t want to be PUSHY!

The above are ACTUAL comments from a consultant who was such a strong seller that she consistently was recognized by her company year after year for being in the top 1% of her company! After years of this, she finally realized that with the number of people she was selling product to, she was really missing a BIG opportunity for building residual income by recruiting and team building.

She made the choice to change by incorporating a few more pro-active approaches to her business; consider giving these a try:

Make a HELP WANTED sign to display at each party
Put a recruiting label with "your story" on each catalog
Focus on demonstrating products from the new consultant kit and state that these items are included in the kit
Coach ALL hostesses with the attitude that they will join
Talk to EVERY guest individually about joining
Make "Morning After Calls", to each guest, thanking them again for their purchase and inviting them to join
Make recruiting the primary focus at each event
Make the parties fun and simple so potential recruits could see that it is truly duplicatible work.

By making these simple changes, she more than doubled her annual recruiting. But the biggest difference she said was in her attitude.
She says; "You have to believe that the opportunity you are offering IS your best product.

Make it your primary focus at each presentation that you do…the sales will come naturally; but statistics don’t lie; you really do need to ask. But when you do, 1 in 10 will join!
Yes, there are still some individuals who will come up and ask you, but the majority are waiting for you to invite them to join you.

You're The Boss!

By Lili

As the boss of our business, are we holding ourselves responsible for being sure we overcome any fears, hesitations or anything that would keep us from doing a good job?

Have we made a decision that sharing the business opportunity with others is a part of our job description? We always say that a benefit of having our own business is being our own boss.

What does a boss do?
A boss is responsible for determining what needs to happen to be sure a project is completed, a sales goal is met, and in general that their business runs smoothly. The boss also makes decisions when needed. S/he also determines when people can take time off and how much people are paid at times. S/he is the one who tells employees what is needed for success.

Are we being a fair boss to ourselves?
Each day are we evaluating what we are doing to be sure that our business operates smoothly? Do we expect things to just happen in the business, or are we focused on making a plan that causes things to happen?

Sharing our business opportunity is the key to our success.
Make a commitment to keep track of how often we are making business prospect contacts. For the next four weeks, set a goal to make at least five business prospect contacts every week and watch what happens to your business when you make the commitment to reach others.

The key is to hold ourselves responsible and not allow ourselves off the hook. A key characteristic of our businesses is that it is flexible, meaning we have choices about when we work, not if we work. When we think about it as an "if" rather than a choice as to "when", we really have no business at all. That describes how we approach a hobby and keep in mind that hobbies we do when we get around to it. In our own business we have to do it differently to call it a business.

We decide how much time we want to spend and then we need to be sure that the time is spent doing what we need to do to get results from our businesses. As the boss in your own business, take some time to think, "What should I be holding myself accountable to doing each day to insure my success in my business?" Then the nice thing about being our own boss is we can reward ourselves anytime for doing a good job! We can be the best boss possible!
Remember a boss has expectations!

Endurance: What is It & Where Can I Buy It?

Are you ready for this marathon? Read what Marsha Schuaer has to say.

When I joined the network marketing business, I didn't realize that I had signed up to run a marathon, did you? And now I'm realizing that this marathon will probably take a few years to finish! Huh? Say what? I'm in a big hurry to cross that finish line and claim my prizes, aren't you? I'm ready to go out and tear up this course! I've paid my dues, received my race kit, put on the cute T-shirt, tightened my laces, and tanked up on water. I'm ready! But, after a couple of miles into this race, I realize that this is different than anything I've ever done. It's going to take awhile to get to that finish line! I'm going to be out here quite awhile longer than I thought. To survive, I realize that I am going to need more than a strong pair of legs. Brute force isn't going to work this time. But, say, I gave up running several years ago! I haven't trained for anything, except the JOB marathon, in years and years! The only activity my jogging shoes get now is a brisk walk several times a week.

I know how tough a marathon is. Am I up for this? I'm not an athlete, am I? Do I have the discipline for it? Have I over-estimated my abilities? To finish this race, I realize that I'm going to have to be tough, firm, unshakable, steadfast, patient, and as enduring in the storms as a 100-year-old redwood. I'm going to need endurance to make it in this event. What does that mean to endure, and where can I buy it? You've probably already figured out that Endurance comes by developing new talents to meet the demands of the event.

Here are some key elements of my Endurance.

1. This race is going to take more time than I thought, but I want to finish this race in my lifetime! I have to be a better time manager. This doesn't mean doing more! It means doing less! I can't do everything and still have the endurance for this race.

2. I have to schedule vital activities, and then do them. I line up my schedule with my goals. What does this mean? Do you think Abe Lincoln's to-do list would have looked like this: weed the Rose garden, milk the cow, and end the Civil War? No, no, no. He focused on only those activities critical to his goal to end the war.

3. Endurance grows from daily cross training. In addition to reading about my products, my company, this industry, I'm also listening and talking. Every day I'm talking to somebody about this race because, guess what, this isn't a race for loners!

4. Endurance develops by hanging out with other networking marathoners because they have a lot of experience and like to share training tips.

5. Endurance comes from being active, being in motion, from being in the race and not watching from the sidelines. Oh, you haven't run a marathon before? Well, neither have most of the other people you know. Act as if you know what you are doing! Motion will create the Emotion of experience.

6. Be careful what you think, because your thoughts will get you lost on the course. Doubt, disbelief, fear, ambivalent, conflicted…back and forth, back and forth. Whew, these emotions are exhausting. You can't run this marathon if you let these feelings control your feet!

7. If you honestly think you made the right decision to enter this race, then focus on that and ignore everything else! Start believing in yourself and stop living in fear of what people will say. Feelings are the loose shoestrings on your shoes - they'll trip you up every time. Double-knot them and forget them.

8. What about fear? The most important thing you bring along with you as you run your network-marketing marathon is your state of mind. Before you can become a world-class marathoner, you have to think like one. World-class athletes, or the garden-variety millionaire next door, have learned how to counter fear with courage. It's OK to be afraid. But, do it anyway! Don't let fear rule your life.

Network marketing is the gift of new life, the gift of freedom, but we need endurance to stay in the race. It's the only thing that will keep us going when we hit the wall. And, to get the gift of endurance, we have to make changes and decisions that will transform our lives.

Are You Working Your Business Part Time or Spare Time?

When was the last time that you really had some SPARE time? Think about it. Life has it's way of using up every last minute of every day for you. There really is no such thing as SPARE time.

Most people who start a home based business do so with the objective of creating a second income. It is a replacement for working a part time job. After all, working from home is much more appealing than working for someone else at someone else's work place.
With a part time job you would have a certain number of hours to work on a specific schedule of days or evenings. Do you treat your part time business in the same way?

Part-Time versus Spare-Time

When was the last time that you really had some SPARE time? Think about it. Life has it's way of using up every last minute of every day for you. There really is no such thing as SPARE time.
It doesn't really matter what kind of business you have chosen. It might be network marketing, direct sales, or an internet business. The fact is that most people will fail to generate that second income because they don't recognize the difference between "part time" and "spare time".

Those who are successful in creating a second income from a work at home business know that spare time never comes. They commit to a specific number of hours to work their business, set a schedule, and stick to it. Just as they would if they had a part time job.

Five Proven Ways To Avoid The Spare Time Trap

1) Choose a Business That You Will Enjoy

This is the greatest advantage to starting a part time business from home. You don't have many choices when looking for a part time job. But, when it comes to home based businesses, there is something for almost anyone.
If you choose something you enjoy doing it will not only be easier for you to MAKE the time to work your business, your enjoyment will be noticed by your clients or customers and enhance your income.

2) Decide How Much Time You Can Devote To Your Business

Most home based businesses can be started on a "shoestring budget". Therefore, you can generate a second income by working as few as five or ten hours per week.
Be realistic in your decision. Take a good, hard look at your weekly activities. Are there some activities that you can give up to make time for your business?
Here is where you will decide just how important this second income is to you. But don't make the mistake of not allowing time for family and recreation. If your business becomes a "ball and chain" you are doomed for failure.

3) Set a Schedule and Stick To It

Once you have decided how much time you can devote to your business you must decide WHEN you can work your business. Get a planning calendar and block in all your weekly activities. Then block in the times you can devote to your business.
Try to block time for your business on a regular basis. If you have committed to ten hours per week, try for two hours per day, five days per week rather than five hours on two days a week. Having a routine creates habit and good work habits contribute to success.
When you have your time scheduled...STICK TO IT. It's easy to say "I'll work double tomorrow" when you are working for yourself. Successful people just DON'T fall into this trap.

4) Plan, Plan, and Plan Some More

Plan what you need to get accomplished during your work time. Knowing what you want to get done leaves little room for distraction. Stay focused on getting the tasks at hand done.
And, when planning, always prioritize your work. Concentrate on doing those things that will move your business forward and actually generate income. But don't let the details slip by, either. Automate as much of the detail work as possible.

5) Set Goals and Work To Achieve Them

Setting goals for your business is one of the most important things you can do. It is a skill not easily learned, though. Goals must be realistic in order to be achieved. And they must also be specific.
Making a million dollars this year is certainly a goal, but it is rather broad and vague. A goal to make one sale per week is more specific and can be broken down into smaller and more exact parts.

If it takes 10 sales calls on average to make one sale, then you can achieve that goal in specific increments:
- generate 10 new leads per week - make two calls per day - generate one sale

Once you start achieving goals like this it is not hard to take the next step. If each sale nets you $100.00 how many sales will it take a month to go full time? Can I find the time to make 50 sales per month? If I can make 600 sales a year part-time, can I make 10,000 sales a year full time? What's 10,000 sales at $100.00 per sale? Why - that's One Million!

Don't Stay Parked in the Comfort Zone

Here's a great poem to post on your board/fridge.

The Comfort Zone ----------

I used to have a Comfort Zone
Where I knew I couldn't fail.
The same four walls of busy work,
Were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things
I'd never done before,
But I stayed inside my comfort zone
And paced the same old floor.

I said it didn't matter,
That I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things
Like diamonds, furs and such.

I claimed to be so busy,
With the things inside my zone,
But deep inside I longed for
Something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by,
Just watching others win.
I held my breath and stepped outside
to let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength
I'd never felt before,
I kissed my Comfort Zone "good-bye"
and closed and locked the door.

If you are in a Comfort Zone,
Afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were
At one time filled with doubt,

A step or two and words of praise,
Can make your dreams come true.
Greet your future with a smile,
Success is there for you!

Meeting & Beating Customer Expectations

Meeting & Beating Customer Expectations
by Zig Ziglar

How do customers rate you? It probably depends on how well you r-a-t-e! Read this article to find out what R-A-T-E stands for

What do your customers expect from you?

It’s a good question for you to think about. It’s an equally good question for employees to think about! No one does business with a company without expecting something! So what do your customers expect from you and your company?

It’s important to know what customers expect from you because they’re going to rate you. And, generally speaking, they’ll rate you in one of three ways. You’re either "below expectations" -- and that’s not good for the longevity of your company--or you’re "on par with expectations"--good, but not great--or you’re "beyond expectations"—and that’s very good!

How do customers rate you? It probably depends on how well you r-a-t-e!

R is for Reliability, Recovery & Responsiveness
Those are the three Rs of great customer service. Customers don’t expect a company to perform perfectly, but they do expect promises to be kept. You’ve got to be reliable. Do what you say. And if you can’t always do what you promise, then at least make it up to the customer in another way. When you fail to meet a customer’s expectations (and it happens from time to time, even to the best of companies) you should recover by fixing it! Recovery may be as simple as a phone call and an apology. Always be sure to respond quickly. Customers hate to be kept waiting. Don’t keep them on hold. Don’t make them wait in the waiting room. Respond to your customers as soon as you can.

A is for Assurance
Customers want to feel their problem is being handled by an expert. Let them know that you know your business!

T is for Tangibles
Customers judge you by your looks. That’s right, they judge your personal looks, but they also judge the environment of your business. They judge the look of the office, the waiting room, the shopping center, the parking lot, your company brochure, etc. Yes, they also judge you by the look of your Web site! If you want to meet the expectations of customers, look your best!

E is for Empathy
Every customer wants you to recognize him or her as unique. Customers resent it when you make them feel like a number, or just one of the crowd. Show the customer that you care about him/her individually.

So how do you r-a-t-e? If you’re not sure, why not ask your customers?

The Two Choices We Face

"Each of us has two distinct choices to make about what we will do with our lives. The first choice we can make is to be less than we have the capacity to be. And the second choice? To do it all! To become all that we can possibly be."

Each of us has two distinct choices to make about what we will do with our lives. The first choice we can make is to be less than we have the capacity to be. To earn less. To have less. To read less and think less. To try less and discipline ourselves less. These are the choices that lead to an empty life. These are the choices that, once made, lead to a life of constant apprehension instead of a life of wondrous anticipation.

And the second choice?
To do it all! To become all that we can possibly be. To read every book that we possibly can. To earn as much as we possibly can. To give and share as much as we possibly can. To strive and produce and accomplish as much as we possibly can. All of us have the choice.

To do or not to do. To be or not to be. To be all or to be less or to be nothing at all.
Like the tree, it would be a worthy challenge for us all to stretch upward and outward to the full measure of our capabilities. Why not do all that we can, every moment that we can, the best that we can, for as long as we can?

Our ultimate life objective should be to create as much as our talent and ability and desire will permit. To settle for doing less than we could do is to fail in this worthiest of undertakings.

Results are the best measurement of human progress. Not conversation. Not explanation. Not justification. Results! And if our results are less than our potential suggests that they should be, then we must strive to become more today than we were the day before. The greatest rewards are always reserved for those who bring great value to themselves and the world around them as a result of who and what they have become.

How Spice Savvy Are You?

How spice savvy are you?
This article and quiz was in the January 2005 Chatelaine magazine. Interesting reading and the quiz could even be used at a Good Tastings event. Enjoy!

The next time you're tempted to reach for an extra dash of salt while cooking, go to your spice rack instead. Research shows that spices have health benefits that may even outweigh drugs. For example, cinnamon, ginger, garlic and black cumin have been associated with reduced cholesterol and glucose levels in the blood, lessening the risk of heart disease and diabetes.

See how spice savvy you are by matching each of the following six spices to it's correct description:
turmeric, cloves, ginger, black cumin, garlic and cinnamon.

1. This spice alleviates the nausea associated with pregnancy, motion sickness and chemotherapy. It also packs in a high level of antioxidants, meaning it helps prevent the cell damage that causes diseases such as cancer.

2. As little as half a teaspoon (2 ml) of this sweet and flavourful spice each day can have a positive effect on type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol, according to recent research.

3. Found in curry and yellow mustard, this spice contains an active compound that has been shown to correct cystic fibrosis in laboratory mice. It may also help treat multiple sclerosis and prevent Alzheimer's disease.

4. This spice is a star bacteria killer that helps zap the germs that cause diarrhea and some types of pneumonia.

5. A recent study by the US Dept. of Agriculture identified this fragrant autumnal spice as an antioxidant powerhouse.

6. Used all over the world to treat conditions such as asthma and diarrhea, this savoury spice has also been shown to lower triglycerides (harmful fats) in the blood.

Answers:

1. Ginger
2. Cinnamon
3. Turmeric
4. Garlic
5. Cloves
6. Black cumin (a cousin of the lighter cumin more commonly used in North America)

Overcoming Fear

One of the biggest barriers your people will have to overcome is fear. Fear of failure. Fear of rejection. Fear of change. Fear of success. It is fear (and all of its cousins like worry, anxiety, depression and self-doubt) that will turn your dream of success into a chilling nightmare that haunts you into paralysis and self-sabotage. Here is what Lisa Jimenez has to say on the topic of fear - and the belief system it takes to overcome it.

The reality of fear is that fear is human. It is part of every person’s life and exists in every success story that ever was. Fear is part of growing and it isn’t going away. Some fear is even healthy. All people are born with three inborn fears.

These three fears are: fear of falling fear of loud noises fear of abandonment These inborn fears were put in you to help you monitor your life and what’s going on around you. Think of it, it is fear that gives you the powerful adrenaline rush so that you will have the ability to flee from a situation that is truly unsafe or the same adrenaline rush to fight to win! As a child you would react through instinct when either of these fears were challenged. And they would keep you safe. As an adult, however, these same fears that were meant for good, cause you to run and even repel success. The problem is that most adults don’t make a clear distinction between reacting with instinct to their fear and acting with their intellect toward fear.

Exposing Your Fear of Success...

It’s not the fear of failure that keeps us from our full potential. No, I believe much more frightening is the fear of really making it. Think of the high school boy who is scared to ask the girl out on a date. Not because she might say no and turn him down. No! What he’s really afraid of is: What if she says YES?

Or the woman who wants to lose 20 pounds but never makes the commitment to begin the commitment and stick with it—not because she might fail…but because she might succeed! Then what? She’d have the pressure of maintaining the weight loss! Yikes! It’s easier to just never make the commitment.

Or, the sales associate who achieves high sales in his unit and now is faced with upholding the achievement or worse yet, beating it! Your fear of success comes out of your beliefs about success. Until you expose your negative beliefs about success you will continue to fear it, repel it, and never achieve it.

The Power of Your Beliefs...

Your beliefs are the driving force behind your behaviors. Beliefs send powerful messages to your brain that affect your actions (and your outcome) in either a positive or negative way. Your beliefs will cause you to do one of two things: be fearful and RETREAT, Or, be empowered and ACT!

An Empowering Belief System...

Success takes two ingredients—belief and time. The more belief you have, the less time it takes. Think of the refugee who has been raised with the belief that America is the land of opportunity. Even before arriving in this country, he has the advantage. Then, when arriving in America, he begins a business with the belief that in America, he will be successful because that’s what he has heard and believes. His beliefs are his reality. With time, he manifests that belief and is successful in his business.

Your Behaviors Reveal Hidden Messages...

Self-sabotage is a disparity between what you say you want, and what you do. It is a reflection of your fears caused by negative beliefs and occurs when you link fear (fueled by negative beliefs) to your goals. Look at your behaviors or behavioral patterns. They are shouting out messages of hidden fears and unmet needs. When you find yourself procrastinating, forgetting appointments, not taking advantage of opportunities, or any other sabotage behavior, know that your actions are shouting out a message of fear that needs to be addressed.

THE FORMULA FOR FAILURE AND SUCCESS

To put it more simply, failure is nothing more than a few errors in judgment repeated every day. The formula for success ... a few simple disciplines practiced every day!

Failure is not a single, cataclysmic event.
We do not fail overnight. Failure is the inevitable result of an accumulation of poor thinking and poor choices. To put it more simply, failure is nothing more than a few errors in judgment repeated every day.
Now why would someone make an error in judgment and then be so foolish as to repeat it every day? The answer is because he or she does not think that it matters.
On their own, our daily acts do not seem that important. A minor oversight, a poor decision, or a wasted hour generally doesn't result in an instant and measurable impact. More often than not, we escape from any immediate consequences of our deeds.

If we have not bothered to read a single book in the past ninety days, this lack of discipline does not seem to have any immediate impact on our lives. And since nothing drastic happened to us after the first ninety days, we repeat this error in judgment for another ninety days, and on and on it goes. Why? Because it doesn't seem to matter. And herein lies the great danger. Far worse than not reading the books is not even realizing that it matters!

Those who eat too many of the wrong foods are contributing to a future health problem, but the joy of the moment overshadows the consequence of the future. It does not seem to matter. Those who smoke too much or drink too much go on making these poor choices year after year after year... because it doesn't seem to matter. But the pain and regret of these errors in judgment have only been delayed for a future time. Consequences are seldom instant; instead, they accumulate until the inevitable day of reckoning finally arrives and the price must be paid for our poor choices - choices that didn't seem to matter.

Failure's most dangerous attribute is its subtlety. In the short term those little errors don't seem to make any difference. We do not seem to be failing. In fact, sometimes these accumulated errors in judgment occur throughout a period of great joy and prosperity in our lives. Since nothing terrible happens to us, since there are no instant consequences to capture our attention, we simply drift from one day to the next, repeating the errors, thinking the wrong thoughts, listening to the wrong voices and making the wrong choices. The sky did not fall in on us yesterday; therefore the act was probably harmless. Since it seemed to have no measurable consequence, it is probably safe to repeat.

But we must become better educated than that!
If at the end of the day when we made our first error in judgment the sky had fallen in on us, we undoubtedly would have taken immediate steps to ensure that the act would never be repeated again. Like the child who places his hand on a hot burner despite his parents' warnings, we would have had an instantaneous experience accompanying our error in judgment.

Unfortunately, failure does not shout out its warnings as our parents once did. This is why it is imperative to refine our philosophy in order to be able to make better choices. With a powerful, personal philosophy guiding our every step, we become more aware of our errors in judgment and more aware that each error really does matter.

Now here is the great news. Just like the formula for failure, the formula for success is easy to follow: It's a few simple disciplines practiced every day.

Now here is an interesting question worth pondering:
How can we change the errors in the formula for failure into the disciplines required in the formula for success? The answer is by making the future an important part of our current philosophy.

Both success and failure involve future consequences, namely the inevitable rewards or unavoidable regrets resulting from past activities. If this is true, why don't more people take time to ponder the future?

The answer is simple:
They are so caught up in the current moment that it doesn't seem to matter. The problems and the rewards of today are so absorbing to some human beings that they never pause long enough to think about tomorrow.

But what if we did develop a new discipline to take just a few minutes every day to look a little further down the road? We would then be able to foresee the impending consequences of our current conduct. Armed with that valuable information, we would be able to take the necessary action to change our errors into new success-oriented disciplines. In other words, by disciplining ourselves to see the future in advance, we would be able to change our thinking, amend our errors and develop new habits to replace the old.

One of the exciting things about the formula for success - a few simple disciplines practiced every day - is that the results are almost immediate. As we voluntarily change daily errors into daily disciplines, we experience positive results in a very short period of time. When we change our diet, our health improves noticeably in just a few weeks. When we start exercising, we feel a new vitality almost immediately. When we begin reading, we experience a growing awareness and a new level of self-confidence. Whatever new discipline we begin to practice daily will produce exciting results that will drive us to become even better at developing new disciplines.

The real magic of new disciplines is that they will cause us to amend our thinking. If we were to start today to read the books, keep a journal, attend the classes, listen more and observe more, then today would be the first day of a new life leading to a better future. If we were to start today to try harder, and in every way make a conscious and consistent effort to change subtle and deadly errors into constructive and rewarding disciplines, we would never again settle for a life of existence - not once we have tasted the fruits of a life of substance!

10 TIPS TO GETTING OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY

1. Face Facts:
YOU may just be the bump in the road that's slowing you down. Often the most difficult step in getting out of one's own way is recognizing that you are indeed, in it. When you encounter problems in achieving your goals, carefully consider whether or not you are the source of those problems.

2. You can do anything you want.
However, you may not be able to do everything you want. Most of the time we get in our own ways by trying to do too much all at once. By working hard at trying to do everything we end up accomplishing very little. Concentrating on one or two projects at a time will actually increase your chances getting what you want.

3. To get a clear picture, you've got to focus.
Once you know which project(s) you will tackle, you must focus on what it will take to really do those projects. Create step-by-step plans for what you will do and when you will do them.

4. If it's on paper, it's a plan.
If it's in your head, it's a dream. Many are reluctant to actually put their plans down on paper. Putting plans to paper is the first physical step to take towards achieving one's desires. Without a written plan most people will start a project but soon be distracted by the many little things that pop up.

5. Just because you're moving doesn't mean you're getting ahead.
A sure sign of a person getting in their own way is when they are working very hard, but not getting any closer to achieving their goals. (This is also one of the most frequent effects of not having a written plan.) To move forward you must take the proper actions at the proper times.

6. Not choosing IS choosing.
Another roadblock we create is by over-thinking our options to the point of inactivity. "I could do A, B, or C" we tell ourselves. "I better think about it." Then we proceed to ponder ... but we never actually decide. What we're really doing, though, is deciding to do nothing. But guess what? If you do nothing, you get nothing.

7. Concentrate on what will work.
Some people are very good at finding all of the reasons why something *won't* work. So good that they talk themselves out of even trying. Don't compound potential negatives, compound the positives and concentrate on why things *will* work for you!

8. If it's not working, STOP DOING IT!
One definition of insanity reads: "Doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result each time." I tend to think of that more as a definition of *humanity.* Whether caused by determination, pride, or mere stubbornness, many have trouble recognizing and admitting that things aren't working. If that's you, adopt a new motto: "Just don't do it!" When things stop working, stop doing them, readjust, and move on.

9. When you just don't know, get help.
We can't know everything. We can't always solve everything. When that's the case, get help. There are businesses, counselors, consultants, and coaches who can work with you on almost any trouble spot you may encounter. Use them.

10. If it doesn't make you happy, don't do it.
Working towards your goals may not always be easy. You may not have fun every moment as you wend your way. Overall you should be happy with what you are doing because it's what you want to do. If that's not true then you definitely need to reevaluate your goals or how you are pursuing them.

You and Your Prospects Are.....

IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME

Very interesting statistics about our Watkins Business by Mark Metzler, Watkins Managing Editor.

The Direct Selling Industry is growing at a record rate, generating $23.17 billion in sales in 1998, up from $12.96 billion in 1991. The Direct Selling sales force has also increased dramatically, reaching a record 9.7 million person sales force in 1998, up from 5.1 million in 1991. These numbers come from the 1999 Direct Selling Growth and Outlook Survey, published by the Direct Selling Association (DSA).

The survey also states that the average direct-sales associate makes US $24 per hour, and works just less than 10 hours per week on an average.

Watkins Supplies the Marketplace Of the products that make up the $23.17 billion in sales in 1998, Watkins carries more than 75% of those types of products. Here's where the sales were generated, according to the DSA:

¨ 32.2% from Family/Home Care Products
¨ 25.9% from Personal Care Products
¨ 18.2% from Services/Miscellaneous Products
¨ 17.9% from Wellness Products
¨ 5.8% from Leisure/Educational Products

Here are some other interesting facts from the DSA:

¨ 73% of associates are female
¨ 77% of associates are married
¨ 57% of associates under the age of 45
¨ 35% of associates have a college degree
¨ 91% of associates work less than 30 hours per week on their business
¨ 51% of associates work from their home

What This Means to You

These statistics are exceptional tools for you to use with prospects to activate interest in the Watkins business. Most interesting is the amount of money made per hour by a typical associate.

Who do you know who would like to work from home? Who do you know who could use additional part-time income? Who do you know who could benefit from our life enhancing products? Would you like to have a share of their income as you duplicate your business?

Take Action Today Sponsoring

If your prospect is motivated by additional money or the type of lifestyle financial freedom can bring, ask these questions:
"Could you use an additional $200 to $500 per month?"
¨ "Have you ever thought of working from home and replacing your current income?"
¨ If Watkins could help you move closer to your financial or personal goals, would you be willing to start today?

Top Ten Time-Wasters

Most people are frustrated with days that aren't as productive as intended. Can you relate? Here are America's top 10 time-wasters

1- CRISES MANAGEMENT

Ever feel that you're leaving a trail of unfinished projects, unreturned phone calls, unread mail, and partially completed reports? Crises usually arise from a job you left unfinished to work on another unfinished task, or from failing to make a decision or take action that would have prevented the crisis in the first place. Most of this time-wasting is caused by losing sight of true priorities. Learn to tell the difference between 'URGENT' and 'IMPORTANT.'

2 - THE TELEPHONE

We spend about 2.5 hours each day on the phone. About 20% of that time is wasted on wandering phone calls, long-distance weather reports, forgetting some of the important issues, or calling every time we think of another idea. Planning a phone call means taking 30 seconds to outline what you want to say or ask.
As far as incoming calls, most phone interruptions are less important than what they interrupted. So don't answer the phone every time it rings. Block out a time for dealing with the calls.

3 - LACK OF PRIORITIES

Consider your goals and objectives each day. You will accomplish the most when you know exactly what you want to accomplish, so PLAN YOUR DAY.

4 - TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH

Success is not based on how busy you are. You can't do justice to everything at once, and it's easy to lose perspective on all the things you have going on, so focus on what COUNTS.

5 - DROP-IN VISITORS

When it seems that everyone-colleagues, clients, family, friends - wants a piece of you, close your door, hide, or just say NO.

6 - INEFFECTIVE DELEGATION

Don't waste your time on tasks that another person could do. Even if you think you can do it better and faster yourself, remember that what's important is what you can CAUSE TO HAPPEN, not just what you can do on your own. If another person can accomplish a task 80% as well as you, DELEGATE.

7 - MESSY DESK

Is your desk piled with pending and unfinished work? Do you waste time on looking for things or on being distracted by whatever's lying around. Get rid of the constant distractions by putting things away, filing them, delagating them, or trashing them. The most effective people work from a CLEAN DESK.

8 - PROSCRASTINATION

Do you procrastinate-stall, hold on to projects, redo reports, and put things off until a 'better time.' By making decisions now instead of later, you can increase the available time in your day. DO IT NOW.

9 - INABILITY TO SAY NO

Those around you will give you all the work you are willing to take. When you find yourself overloaded, politely but firmly say NO.

10 - MEETINGS

The typical manager spends 17 hours a week in meetings plus another six hours getting ready for them. Beware of hastily called meetings, no ending time stated, no agenda, no official record of what was done or said, and no follow-up.

BY PAYING ATTENTION TO YOUR TIME-WASTERS, YOU JUST MAY 'FIND' AN EXTRA FOUR TO FIVE HOURS A WEEK TO ENJOY THE THINGS THAT ARE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU.

Network Marketing Quotes

Here's a few "quotable quotes" - to make you ponder.........enjoy!

"If they (distributors) want to know how to get 100 people in their group, I tell them that it's a simple formula of turning one into two, then two into four. When it becomes 25 turning into 50, you can't stop it. How do you get that magical 'one' going? It's a matter of building the relationship, and of knowing that what you're offering is an opportunity for people to direct their own destiny."...............Giselle Sexmith, as quoted in Network Marketing Lifestyles

"It's time for people to begin minding their own business. A job means you're being paid to mind somebody else's business. In this new economy, you need to mind you own business. The idea that you can go to school, get good grades, find a safe, secure job, and have the company and the government take care of you is fundamentally of the Industrial Age. It was a good program -- as long as you were born prior to 1930. People need to stop working for money and learn how to have money work for them. I see network marketing as one of the primary vehicles through which people can shift their thinking and their efforts. Being a network marketer is really minding your own business.".......Robert Kiyosaki, author of 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad'

"Think about it: everybody you know, everyone that you meet, also know about 250 people. So every time you cultivate a relationship with one new person, you have actually expanded your personal inventory by 250 people -- every single time.".......Bob Burg

"It's the oldest, corniest piece of advice in the world but it still works. The strongest networks are built on friendship. Be a friend not only to the people in your network, but to the people who matter the most to the people in your network.".............Harvey Mackay

"Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if he or she were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster, and do so with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.".......Og Mandino (1923-1996)

"What you sow, you reap. It's a law of nature. Network Marketing is perfectly aligned with that. You get truly, EXACTLY what you're worth! No nepotism, no favoritism. That's rare today.".......Bob Proctor
